Today is my father's 97th birthday. My mother is also 97. Today is their 73rd anniversary. They each had serious cancers decades ago. My father spent five years in the army during WWII. They survived the 1918 flu pandemic, the Great Depression, poverty, prosperity, three kids and living under Jimmy Carter, though I doubt they'll survive Obama.
They've both been "kicked out" of hospice care for failing to die.
My mother has Alzheimer's. He believes she knows what's going on around her. I do not. My father has a cracked pelvis. He's going to therapy and is determined to walk again. The Lowman Home is trying to get them a room together.
Attitude is everything.
Amen.
