I just got an e-mail from a dear relative and friend. She was invited to a wedding shower for another relative -- I have issues with this branch of the family so most likely I will be spared an invitation. I certainly hope so.
It's for something I've never heard of: a Mail-In Shower. You're sent a list of things the bride-to-be wants, and given a link for where to purchase them. You click on the link and send your choice of her choices to her.
Oh. And you pay for it, too. All without going anywhere, being entertained, meeting anyone from the groom's side of the family or the bride's friends. Sounds like a shake-down to me. Though I would pay to NOT attend this shower for this particular bride, and I guess that's the point.
The hostess doesn't really want to give a shower, the guests don't want to come. This way, you can buy your way out.
I was asked, "Is this the new etiquette?"
What do you think?

not sure what that is but I don't think it's etiquette! :)

Oh it's all the rage here... especially among the mail-order bride community.

Wow that's horrible, I have never heard of anything like that!
