This is stolen from Life is a Journey, Enjoy the Ride (Big Hooves). Here are five things I'd tell my 16-year-old self:
- Exercise and/or walk every day.
- Use sunscreen and quit sunbathing.
- Don't go steady with the first guy you date, and for goodness sakes don't go steady for six years! (He was a nice guy. Nothing against him. You just need to meet more people and not be in a relationship at that age.)
- Listen to your elderly (and other) relatives' stories. Write them down in a journal.
- Dream bigger. And start working on it NOW.
What would you tell your 16-year-old self?

I like this post. Very much. It's the kind of thing I think about every now and then, and I find myself looking back on my sixteen year old self with compassion. I knew absolutely nothing when I was sixteen. I would tell my sixteen-year-old self to take the time to know about life before I acted and made decisions. What's the hurry? I'd tell her. Know yourself--is what I'd ask her to do.
